DYI Citrus Essential Oils Cleaner for Kitchen and Bathroom Counters

If you are itching for an easy DIY project, try out this very easy to make hard surface cleaner that not only takes care of germs and their little friends but also boost your mood with its uplifting and energizing aroma. Here's what you need:

Pour all the ingredients into the spray bottle. Shake well before applying and then wipe the bathroom and kitchen surfaces down with a clean rag or paper towel. I actually use this blend to also clean my shower to fight off mold and grime build-up. Why did I choose these oils?

Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) and Lemon (Citrus lemon) essential oils have a very high limonene content - a naturally occurring chemical compound known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, pain relieving, antidepressant, anxiolytic, and skin healing properties. Both trees are believed to be originally from China, where orange dried peels were used to treat coughs, colds, and anorexia. Spiritually, citrus oils are used to uplift the spirit, jumpstart creativity, calm emotional outbursts, and relieving mental fatigue. While sweet orange is not toxic or irritant, lemon essential oil is phototoxic, causing a skin reaction when exposed to the sun if not used at a proper dilution rate. I use both in my "Citrus Bliss" body butter- to ease anxiety, boost my mood, relieve minor aches and pains, and nourish the skin- as well as hand cleansers for their anti-bacterial and anti-fungal  properties.
